Loved my #t25 workout tonight. Combo of #strength (some biceps, shoulders, tris, lunges, squats, abs, chest) and #cardio. And just got in my last ten #pushups to round out my #100pushups for the day! Also worked an 11 hour day. Who says you can’t fit it all in?? #turbofitlife #cantstopwontstop #fitfam #fitness #workout #exercise #healthy #healthpact #shaunt #beachbody #fitsnap

So I decided to do a 30 day challenge where I do 100 #pushups a day. A few coworkers are joining me so we get to do cubicle push ups for the next month! Today was day 1 and it’s kind of crazy how fast 100 goes by when you squeeze in 10 push ups between meetings! Gotta squeeze in #fitness when you can, right?? Anyone else want in on the challenge?? #fitfam #health #wellness #exercise #workout #100pushups #healthpact #challenge

so i’ve been doing p90x3 for the last few months (getting into the last couple weeks now) and i’m completely obsessed! 30 minutes a day is SO do-able! easy to get back into the habit of working out if you’ve been slacking (like i was). you can of course do doubles or add on extra stuff if you want more than 30 mins a day but for most of the program that’s all i’ve been doing and it’s been working out great. now i just need to get my eating in check…
speaking of exercise nutrition… i ran a 5k yesterday, which was my first “real” run since the marathon in october. that’s almost six months of no running! which is crazy for me but it’s been a brutal winter in Chicago! and after the marathon i was told i wasn’t allowed to run for at least six weeks to heal my body from all the crazy injuries i had. so by the time that six weeks was up the winter of awful cold and snow had started and i hate treadmill running. hence my long break from running. i tried running on the treadmill while i was on a cruise but it was awful- i was doing like 12-15 minute miles. it was insane. i never run that slowly outside. especially when i’m not even going three miles! so that was disappointing and i had low expectations for the 5k yesterday. and while it wasn’t my best time, or even close to it, i still pulled 10:17 miles, which was OK for me. a little disappointing but not too shabby. where i made my biggest mistake was after the race. i hate eating before i run and for 3 miles it’s not *that* important so i had just a handful of almonds in the morning. we went out for celebratory cupcakes after the race and then i came home and had a ton of things to do before the cleaning lady got to my house (i’ve never had one before so i felt like i had to clean everything before she got there?).

so after running around to get everything ready for her and her getting all set up i left to go run some errands. came home and hour later and spent an hour looking for parking. was starving at this point so had some skinny pop that was in my car while i was hunting for parking. finally inside i went online and ordered everything that sounded good to me at the time- vegan gyros, falafel, pizza, and cheesecake. finally it got there an hour later- around 4pm. so at this point all i’ve eaten all day was a handful of almonds, a cupcake, some skinny pop, and a few bites of pie that was sitting around to tide me over til my food got there. devoured the falafel and gyros and felt super sick because i was way over-stuffed (i could have stopped at the falafel!). and i was exhausted. like i could barely keep my eyes open and my whole body felt tired. why? i only ran three miles! i work out every day way harder than that and feel fine! well, terry, it’s because you didn’t re-fuel your body and poor muscles after the run. “they” say the 30-60 minutes after exercise is that key window where you have to give your body the right combo of nutrition to decrease recovery time and increase performance. and i totally failed at that yesterday. i should have had the cupcake (let’s be honest- what fun is a race without a cupcake at the finish line?) but when i got home i should have made a yummy recovery shake. lesson learned (once again). it kind of ruined my day as i was just laying around all day doing nothing watching TV and i have so much stuff i could have been doing! lesson learned!

do you ever have those days where you feel so pumped? Like you can just take on the world and accomplish everything on your to-do list for the day? I feel like those days always come for me after a challenging workout in the morning. quite fittingly my workout this morning was p90x3 “The Challenge”. It’s a half hour of non-stop pushups and pull ups. You mix it up with what kind (wide, narrow, chin up, etc) but it’s all pushing and pulling. Following the p90x3 schedule you do the workout 3 times during the first three weeks and then you don’t see it again for 5 weeks. For the workout you pick a number of push ups youre shooting for and a number of pull ups and you target that number no matter which style you’re doing and you do two sets of each style. Having not seen the workout for over a month I figured i would have lost some of the strength (even though i have been doing other variations of push ups and pull ups the whole time). I dont know why i thought that and proved myself wrong by doing more of both the whole time! by the time i was done i had done over 100 push ups and 80 pull ups. Now… when i say 80 pull ups that’s definitely assisted- i still cant even do one unassisted. But with the chin up max (check out the lovely picture) I can knock out lots of reps. And as i get stronger I reduce the assistance and one day (hopefully) I’ll be able to knock some out on my own. After a morning like that how can you not be ready to face the day?! I know waking up earlier seems like torture at first but once you get used to it you’ll get addicted. get it!
